There are a myriad of law, medical and business schools in Lansing, but most notably you’ll find Michigan State University, a member of the Big Ten conference, in the neighboring sister city of East Lansing. This university has the largest land campus in the United States and offers more than 200 programs of study. Student enrollment at Michigan State University is just over 50,000 students.
It is easy to find something to do in Lansing, regardless of your interests. Every November just before Thanksgiving, the annual City Electric Light Parade dominates the streets through downtown, and ends by lighting the Christmas tree at the State Capitol. And throughout the summer months, the city comes alive with its many farmers markets. Among the several different markets you’ll find around the city is the Lansing City Market, which boasts a $1.6 million structure that encloses the market.
People fond of the outdoors will take comfort in the fact that there is a 13-mile trail that runs along Grand River and the Red Cedar River. The Lansing River trail passes Potter Park Zoo, the Capitol Loop and several other Lansing landmarks. The trail is hard surfaced, and is easily accessible from almost any point along its 13-mile course.
After you’ve completed your morning jog along the Grand River, you may remember you were in need of a water treatment service.
